⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 7)
Board to Appoint New Trustee, Bypassing Voters
📅 2026-09-01
The board will meet in a closed session to interview and then appoint a new trustee for Single Member District 1, filling the vacancy without a special election. This process allows the sitting board members to choose a new colleague, denying the voters of that district the right to elect their own representative.
Response

Contact the Ector County ISD Board of Trustees (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Voters in District 1 deserve to choose their own representative. Please call a special election to fill the vacancy in Position 1 instead of appointing a trustee.’
