A bond expenditure report presented to the Citizen’s Oversight Committee reveals that taxpayer-approved construction funds were used to pay for flooring in a “Wellness Center” in 2018-19. While the expense is for facilities, the existence of this center raises serious questions about what services are offered there and whether they require full parental consent.

INVESTIGATE: Contact Superintendent Ilsa Garza-Gonzalez and Chief Business Officer Brenda Mefford (verify contact info on the district website). Ask: ‘The Sept. 15th Bond Expenditure report shows funds used for a Wellness Center. Was this facility and its services explicitly part of the Measure AA bond promise to voters? What policies govern parental consent for services provided there?’
