The board is renewing the ‘Service Learning Club’ at Central Middle School. While community service is valuable, the term ‘Service Learning’ is often used as a cover for student political activism and social justice projects that may not align with parental values. Parents have a right to know what specific ‘service’ projects their children are participating in and which outside organizations the school is partnering with.

ASK FOR DETAILS: Before Item 3.D is approved, the board must provide a list of the specific projects and partner organizations associated with the Central Middle School Service Learning Club for the past and upcoming year. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and ask: ‘What specific activities and partner organizations fall under the ‘Service Learning Club’ renewal? Parents deserve to know if their children are being used for political activism.’
