District Plan to Monitor Student ‘Social, Emotional Health’

The district’s new Strategic Plan (Item III) makes meeting the “social, emotional, and behavioral health (SEBH)” of all students a primary goal. This plan includes measuring subjective feelings like “Connectedness” through student surveys, positioning the school to act as a therapist and data-miner for your child’s emotional state.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND FOCUS ON ACADEMICS: Contact the School Board before the Sept 14 meeting. ‘Regarding Item III, the Strategic Plan: The district’s job is academic instruction, not emotional engineering. Parents, not the school, are responsible for a child’s social and emotional health. Reject the SEBH framework and refocus on academic excellence.’
