School Board Cancels November Election

The Damon ISD board is voting to cancel the scheduled November 3, 2026 school board election. While this is often done when incumbents are unopposed to save taxpayer money, it denies voters the opportunity to cast a ballot and can lead to long-term incumbent entrenchment and reduced accountability.

Contact the Damon ISD administration (see the Official Agenda link for details): ‘Regarding Item 9, please publicly state for the record which trustee positions were up for election and confirm they were all uncontested. Canceling elections, even when legal, reduces accountability to voters.’
