District to Hire “Wellness Coordinator” Using Insurance Credits

Under Item 3.D, the board will vote to use $60,000 in “wellness credits” from its insurance provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield, to hire a new part-time “Wellness Coordinator” and purchase the “WHEN Wellness Program.” This creates a new non-academic position funded by what are essentially insurance kickbacks, opening the door for data collection and SEL-style initiatives under the guise of health. The program framework, detailed in a separate presentation, includes Health Risk Assessments and biometric screenings for participants.

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link for contact info) and ask the Self-Insurance Trust Board: ‘Regarding Item 3.D, what is the ‘WHEN Wellness Program’ and who created its curriculum? Parents must be able to review all program materials before the district creates a new ‘Wellness Coordinator’ position to implement it.’
