MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
Board to Discuss Secret ‘Student Matter’ in Closed Session
📅 October 19, 2026
The Board is holding a closed-door ‘Executive Session’ to discuss an unspecified ‘Student Matter.’ While student privacy is important, this secrecy prevents parents from knowing if the district is setting a precedent for disciplining students over speech, beliefs, or other non-academic issues.
Recommended Action Plan

Contact the Bellows Falls Union High School District #27 Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details). Ask: ‘Regarding Item 4.a., while respecting student privacy, can the Board provide general, non-identifying information to the public after the session about the nature of the issue discussed — such as whether it was related to academic integrity, student safety, or student expression — to ensure transparency in how district policies are being enforced?’
