The Board is interviewing firms to find the next superintendent, a decision that will shape the district for years. Proposals from two firms, DK Education Collaborative and HYA, reveal a process centered on ‘stakeholder engagement’ to create a ‘Leadership Profile.’ This process can be co-opted by activists to bake in ideological requirements like DEI and SEL, effectively screening out candidates who prioritize academic excellence and parental rights.

Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND A PARENTS-FIRST SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH: This is the most important vote the Board will take all year. Contact the Board before the Oct. 23 meeting (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding the Superintendent Search Firm interviews under Items 4, 6, and 8, we demand the Board adopt selection criteria that explicitly prioritizes academic achievement, fiscal transparency, and parental rights. The ‘Leadership Profile’ must not be a backdoor for ideological agendas like DEI and SEL.’
