District’s Academic Plan Framed by ‘Equity’
πŸ“… October 21, 2026
The district is presenting its core academic improvement plan under the banner of ‘Equitable Access.’ While the stated goals are academic, like improving reading scores, this ‘Equity’ framework can be used to shift focus from academic excellence for all students to engineering equal outcomes for specific student groups.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND CLARITY: Email Superintendent Shauna Murphy at murphys@cps-k12.org: ‘Regarding Presentation C.1 on ‘Equitable Access,’ please provide the district’s official, board-approved definition of ‘Equity.’ Parents deserve to know if this means ensuring every student has the resources to achieve their individual potential, or if it means reallocating resources to engineer equal outcomes for student groups.’

πŸ’° Impact: Focus on Outcomes, Not Excellence
