Academic Plan Introduces ‘Equity’ Framework
📅 October 27, 2026
The board is reviewing a new high school improvement plan that is primarily focused on math and literacy. However, the plan’s guiding ‘Norms’ for staff include the directive to ‘Seek equity,’ a term often used to introduce divisive social concepts into academic instruction.
Recommended Action Plan

SUPPORT & VERIFY: Contact the Board to support the academic focus of the School Improvement Plan (Item 2.01) but demand a clear, academic-only definition of ‘equity’. ‘We strongly support the data-driven focus on math and literacy in the THS plan. To ensure this focus is maintained, please provide the district’s official definition of ‘equity’ and confirm its application is limited to ensuring all students have the resources to achieve academic proficiency.’
