NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
‘Nondiscrimination’ Policy Update Could Redefine ‘Sex’
πŸ“… October 26, 2026
Under Item 3.B, the board is reviewing a change to Policy po2260 that alters its nondiscrimination language. An attached note clarifies that the district’s legal advisors interpret ‘sex’ to include ‘gender identity’, a change that could be used to force girls to share bathrooms and sports teams with biological males.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND CLARITY: Contact the Board before the October 26 meeting. ‘Regarding the proposed changes to Policy po2260, I demand the Board reject any interpretation that redefines ‘sex’ to mean ‘gender identity’. This ambiguity contradicts Policy po5525 and threatens student privacy and fair competition in sports.’

Major Win (LEVEL 10)
HUGE WIN: District Adopts Policy Protecting Student Privacy in Bathrooms
πŸ“… October 26, 2026
Under Item 3.A, the Policy Committee is reviewing a new policy, po5525, that requires students to use restrooms and locker rooms according to their biological sex at birth. This policy protects the privacy and safety of all students, especially girls, by preventing biological males from entering their private spaces.
How to Lock It In

PACK THE ROOM TO SUPPORT THIS: Show up to thank the Board for protecting student privacy. This is a model policy we need to get on the record so it can’t be quietly reversed and can be replicated in other districts. Contact the district office to confirm meeting details and public comment procedures.

Major Win (LEVEL 8)
WIN: Board Reviews Multiple Policies Strengthening Parental Rights
πŸ“… October 26, 2026
The Policy Committee is reviewing five policy updates under Item 3.A (po2461, po2510, po2521, po2623, po5310) that significantly strengthen parental rights. These changes affirm parents’ right to record IEP meetings, receive notice and opt out of curriculum that violates religious beliefs, opt out of most state tests, and provide consent for health screenings.

APPLAUD AND SECURE THESE WINS: Contact the Board to thank them for this slate of pro-parent policies. Public support makes it harder for these wins to be watered down or reversed later. Ask them to approve the full Neola Update Volume 35-2.
