District Plan Embeds Student Surveillance and Intervention Systems

The district’s new 5-year Strategic Plan, under item C.1, embeds ‘Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)’ and ‘Climate Surveys’ as core strategies. These systems are often used to implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL), conduct psychological screenings, and collect sensitive data on students and their families without specific parental consent for each action.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the District Office to get the Board of Trustees’ emails. Send this message: ‘Regarding the Strategic Plan (Item C.1), what specific SEL programs will be delivered through the ‘Multi-Tiered System of Support’? Will parents be able to review all ‘Climate Survey’ questions and opt their children out of both the survey and any MTSS interventions *before* they happen? We need these answers before this foundational plan is adopted.’
