The proposed 2026-27 budget includes a special tax levy of over $4.8 million to pay for students to attend private schools through state voucher programs. This amount, a 13% increase from last year, is levied on local property owners on top of normal school funding limits, meaning your property taxes are directly subsidizing private education.
Recommended Action Plan

Attend the Annual Budget Hearing on October 27th and use the public comment period (Item 1.D) to ask the Board: ‘Why are our local property taxes increasing by over half a million dollars this year to fund private school vouchers? How does sending $4.8 million of our money to private institutions benefit the students who remain in Neenah’s public schools?’
