Board Can Limit Speakers on Hot-Button Issues
📅 October 24, 2026
The agenda for this special meeting states that if numerous people sign up to speak on the same item, the Board ‘may select representatives to speak on each side.’ This rule could be used to silence a large group of parents who show up to oppose a specific policy, by preventing most of them from speaking.
Recommended Action Plan

STRATEGY ALERT: The public comment rules under Item A.2 allow the Board to ‘select representatives’ if many people sign up for one topic. To prevent being silenced, coordinate with other parents to designate your key speakers and ensure your main points are covered before the meeting.
