ALERT (LEVEL 2)
Unmonitored ‘Mini-Grants’ for Teachers
📅 October 19, 2026
The Laveen Education Foundation is donating $4,000 for ‘internal mini grants to teachers and schools.’ Without public criteria for these grants, this money could be used to purchase supplemental classroom materials or programs that fall outside the district’s official curriculum review process, bypassing parental oversight.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK FOR TRANSPARENCY: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and ask: ‘Regarding Item D.2, the Laveen Education Foundation’s donation for teacher mini-grants, where can parents review the criteria for how this money will be awarded and spent? We must ensure all classroom spending aligns with board-approved curriculum.’
