Board to Raise Property Taxes While Funding for Private Schools Skyrockets

The Board is voting to approve the new budget and tax levy under Items III and IV. This includes a 6.144% property tax increase for residents, while the amount of public education funding diverted to private school vouchers has jumped by over $1.2 million to a total of $7,223,770 this year.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the District Office and demand the Board explain Item IV before the vote: ‘Why are our property taxes increasing by over 6% while the district is sending $7.2 million in public funds to private schools? We demand a public explanation for this $1.2 million year-over-year increase.’
