Board to Meet Behind Closed Doors to Discuss Employee Performance

The Board is holding a special ‘Executive Session’ which is closed to the public. The stated purpose is to discuss the performance of an unnamed public employee, which could be anyone from the Superintendent to a teacher. While legal for personnel issues, these closed-door meetings limit public oversight and prevent parents from knowing which employees are under review.
Recommended Action Plan

MONITOR: While executive sessions for personnel are legal, the public has a right to know who the board is evaluating. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and ask for a public statement regarding the subject of the October 19th executive session after it concludes. Remind the Board that all district employees are accountable to the parents and taxpayers they serve.
