⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 7)
Board to Appoint New Trustee, Bypassing Voters
📅 September 10, 2026
The board will vote on a process to fill a vacant trustee seat by appointment rather than holding a special election. This process allows the sitting board members to hand-pick a new trustee, denying DeSoto ISD voters the right to choose their own representative.
Response

Contact the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding Item 5.C, the voters should choose their representative. I urge you to fill the Place 2 vacancy by a special election, not by appointment.’
