The board will meet in a closed session to discuss and then appoint a new trustee to fill a vacancy for District 7. This process bypasses a special election, denying voters the right to choose their own representative and giving the appointee the advantage of incumbency in the next election.

ATTEND AND SPEAK: Sign up for the Open Forum to demand the board hold a special election instead of appointing a trustee. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and tell the board: ‘Voters, not the board, should choose their representatives. Please call a special election for the District 7 vacancy instead of making an appointment.’
