District Puts Property Tax Hike on November Ballot
📅 November 3, 2026
Groom ISD is finalizing plans for a ‘Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election’ (VATRE) on November 3, 2026. This means the board is seeking to adopt a property tax rate higher than what state law allows without voter permission, which will increase the tax burden on homeowners and businesses if it passes.
Response

SHOW UP & ASK WHY: Attend the September 14th meeting to address Items V.F through V.J. Ask the board to publicly justify why they need to raise taxes beyond the voter-approval rate before they put it on the ballot for a vote on November 3rd.

💰 Impact: Higher Property Taxes
