The Lubbock ISD Board will interview candidates for the District 5 vacancy in a closed-door ‘Executive Session’ and then immediately appoint a new trustee. This process bypasses a special election, handing the power to vote on property taxes and school policy to an unelected official chosen in secret.

Appointing an official who will vote on our taxes and our children’s education behind closed doors erodes public trust. Hold the final interviews in public before you vote on Item III.A.’
